Hourmark

Terms of service

Last updated 17 October 2026

The short version

Use Hourmark to bill your clients honestly. Your data stays yours, and it's free. It doesn't handle payments, so what your clients owe is between you and them. It comes as is, and we'll give you notice before anything important changes.

1. The agreement

These terms are between you and Stephen Adeniji, the independent developer in Nigeria who makes and runs Hourmark (“we”). They cover the Android app, the website and the invoice pages your clients open. By signing in, you agree to them and to the privacy policy.

2. Who can use it

Hourmark is for running a business: freelancers and one-person businesses billing their clients. You need to be at least 18, or old enough to make a contract where you live.

3. Your account

You sign in with a code sent to your email, so whoever can read your email can sign in as you. Keep your email account secure, and tell us straight away if you think someone else got in. You're responsible for what's done in your account.

4. Your content

Your business details, clients, time and invoices are yours. You let us store them and do what the app needs to with them, and nothing else: show an invoice to anyone with its link, draw its PDF, and email it when you ask us to.

You're responsible for what you put on an invoice being accurate, and for having the right to store your clients' details (usually, because you're billing them).

5. Using it fairly

Invoice emails go out from our domain, so misuse hurts everyone who sends with Hourmark. Don't use it to:

  • bill anyone for work that wasn't done or goods that weren't delivered;
  • pretend to be another person or business;
  • send spam, phishing, or anything that tricks people into paying the wrong person;
  • send anything illegal, threatening or abusive;
  • try to get into other accounts, get around the app's limits, or overload or scrape the service.

If an account does any of these, we can stop its emails, turn off its invoice links, or close it, and we'll tell you why unless the law or someone's safety says otherwise.

6. Invoices and payments

Hourmark helps you make and send invoices. It doesn't take or hold payments: your clients pay you directly, using the details you put on the invoice. We're not part of the deal between you and your client, and we can't make anyone pay.

Totals are worked out from what you enter (hours, prices, tax and discount), so check an invoice before you send it. Hourmark isn't tax, accounting or legal advice, and whether you charge tax, and how much, is up to you.

7. Price

Hourmark is free. If paid features ever come, we'll say what they cost before anything is charged, and nothing you use today will start costing money without you choosing it.

8. Changes to the app

The app will change: features get added, changed and sometimes removed. If we ever shut Hourmark down, we'll tell you at least 30 days before, so you can download the PDFs you need.

9. Ending

You can stop using Hourmark and delete your account whenever you like. We can close an account that breaks these terms, as in section 5. Either way, deleting an account deletes what's in it, as the privacy policy describes.

10. No guarantees

We work to keep Hourmark running and your data safe, but it comes “as is”: we can't promise it will always be available, or free of mistakes. Keep your own copy of anything you can't afford to lose, such as the PDFs of invoices you've sent.

11. Liability

As far as the law allows, we're not responsible for indirect losses, such as lost income, unpaid invoices or lost business, and our total responsibility to you is limited to what you've paid us in the 12 months before the problem. Nothing here limits anything the law doesn't let us limit, such as responsibility for fraud.

12. Other services

Parts of Hourmark run on other companies' services (Supabase, Vercel, Resend and Google Play, listed in the privacy policy). Their own terms apply to their part.

13. Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that matters, the date at the top changes, and we'll tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect. Using Hourmark after that means you accept the new terms.

14. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Nigeria, and disputes go to the Nigerian courts. If you live somewhere that gives you rights these terms can't take away, you keep them.
